Green is certainly the colour of the moment and it is having an impact on all of our lives. As individuals we have a responsibility to protect the environment that we live in and one way in which we can do this is to make our homes environmently sound.

Whether that is ensuring that your existing home is as efficient as possible, or using sustainable sources when renovating a property or a complete environmentally sound design in your new build.

So where do you start? Well if the 'lingo' makes your head spin, here is a simple definition of the commonly used 'green' terms.

I found this one when reading a building magazine, and though not for everyone, this delightful wooden home in Wales was built for £3000 over 4 months with the help of friends and passersby.
